29 Chimera Court, Monday Morning

Vi had had a had a big weekend planned even more she'd turned into a tiny kitten. Once she had, it'd turned into an even bigger one, even if she'd missed out on all the parts that required heavy lifting. So now she was curled up on the bed, in a deep sleep that belied the fact she'd been zooming around the apartment barely a quarter of an hour ago.

Somehow, despite being the tiniest of tiny kittens, she was taking at least two-thirds of the bed. possibly more.

Vi laughed and pulled Steph in to kiss her again. "You're incorrigible," she said, which definitely did not sound like a complaint.

"One of my finest qualities." Steph pulled back just long enough to give Vi an unrepentant grin before stealing several more kisses. "Besides, am I wrong? No. So there."

"Did I say you were wrong," Vi asked between kisses. "Just a menace."

Again, she sounded like that was the opposite of a problem.

"Damn right I am." Steph reached over to cup Vi's ass and give it a loving squeeze. "That's why it's a good thing you're here to keep me from leaving swaths of chaos and gay awakenings in my wake."

"Oh, yeah, that'd be terrible," Vi agreed, "I'd have to glare at even more girls."

"And I can think of many expressions I'd rather see on your gorgeous face," Steph added, planting a kiss on the cheek of said face as she put in the food order while peering over Vi's shoulder at her phone. "Even if you glaring is hot."

"I feel like I glare a lot less than I used to," Vi~~, and her two dozen odd grumpy face icons,~~ said softly. "Can't think why."

"I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with how happy you say I make you," Steph replied, kissing her chin as she set her phone down again. "Totally unrelated thing."

"Nothing at all," Vi teased, combing her fingers through Steph's hair. "Must be some other reason."

Steph made a soft, happy noise and leaned into Vi's touch. "Guess it's a mystery we'll have to live with."

"I can do that," Vi said softly, leaning in to kiss her again.

Steph cupped one hand around the back of Vi's neck as they kissed, slow and sweet, her thumb running absently back and forth over the edge of her hairline.

"I get to see you smiling all the time, so I'll live with it too."

Again, saying but not saying the thing.

Vi sighed and let her eyes drift closed again.

"You, me, and our mystery, we'd have to get a bigger place." If it was teasing it definitely didn't count as saying the thing.

"And another bathroom," Steph added, which was totally for the mystery and not, say, if they ever successfully got Powder. "Soundproof the bedroom, too."

...which they'd definitely need if they ever successfully got Powder.

"Gotta think of the neighbours." Just the neighbours and not because no version of Powder was ever going to want to hear them. "Space for your drums, one of those fancy tables for your games."

Steph laughed and nuzzled in against Vi's shoulder. "I could draw this place by now, we've got it so planned out." Hypothetically. Purely hypothetically.

"Home gym for you, definitely. Weights and a couple of punching bags, a pull-up bar..."

They'd just have to make sure to take it to the bedroom as soon as Steph watched Vi work out for long enough to be overcome with lust. Which wouldn't take long, let's be real.

And since it was only hypothetical, Vi could smile and trace her fingers down Steph's spine, as she said "You say that like you don't already have a floorplan.

"I wouldn't even know what to do with that much sopace." It was kind of a miracle Vi managed to stay in condition as it was. At least she did plenty of cardio.

"A floorplan? Just one?" Steph made a mock incredulous noise that was somewhat undermined by her leaning back into Vi's touch. "I have, like, five."

She idly kissed her way along Vi's collarbone, tongue flicking out lightly every now and then to taste the sweat on her skin.

"Me neither, honestly. Mom's house back in the Bay was the biggest place I've ever lived, and that was pretty small compared to a lot of people's."

Arguably, depending on how many positions they decided to try on that day, any given day could be a full body workout.

"Oh, five," Vi repeated, nodding very seriously, fingers still tracing light patterns. "I shouldn't have underestimated."

She nuzzled the top of Steph's head, not for the first time this evening. "I'm also just used to sharing. Never really had a place of my own."

The did tend to engage their cores a lot. That was why it was important to remember proper rest periods.

"I have to do something with my excess energy on those occasions when you're a cat," Steph informed her, lightly running her nails down Vi's side. "It's either that or try and build it in the Sims, and if I do that nobody will see me again for a week."

She made a soft noise.

"Having a place of your own can be nice, but sometimes it's a little overrated."

Thus her standing open-ended invitation to have Vi stay over for as long as she felt like it. Ahem.

"And I for one would be very sad if you disappeared, even just for a week," teasing, yet sincere, stretching out under Steph's touch.

"I mean do you need much more than a door that locks from the inside and a proper bed?"

Which as they had noted many times before, was different from moving in.

"And that's why I'm not doing it," Steph murmured, kissing Vi's throat to punctuate the statement. "Can't have my girl sad."

She continued tracing idle patterns over Vi's skin with her nails, lips still pressed against her neck, as she thought about it.

"Need? Not really. Before I came here I didn't own more than whatever I could fit into one suitcase and my backpack --" partly because she'd never bothered to replace everything in her mom's house that had been lost during the storm -- "and I didn't even really care about having a permanent place to live. Just wanted to keep on the move. Funny how that changed."

Which had nothing to do with wanting to make an actual home with Vi now. Really.

"I love that about you." Vi rubbed small circles over the nape of Steph's neck with her fingertips. "Your consideration."

She pressed a kiss to her temple. "Funny, yeah," she echoed. "It's nice though, to have somewhere you can be you."

Of course not, why would that ever be a motivation?

"We look out for each other," Steph said matter-of-factly. "That's just the deal, babe."

She took a moment to stretch, enjoying the sensation and the opportunity to press closer against Vi's body in equal amounts.

"It is nice. I get to be me, and I get you, and too much weird shit goes on around here for it to get boring."

It was all about how she had the store now! Really! (To be fair, that actually was part of it.)

"And I'm gonna hold you to that," Vi said softly, wrapping Steph up in an even tighter hug.

She pressed her forehead against Steph's. "You do get me, in every way that matters."

After all. If she abandoned the store, who would keep Saffron in salmon and catnip?
